born in New Orleans with life stints in its surrounding areas. While in elementary school, Eric Young, also known as Rico, began listening to rap music, quickly learning that he had a passion for composing his own raps. The thing that made him take rap seriously, was realizing that people enjoyed what he was saying, and this led him to begin taking the craft seriously at a young age.
In 2013, Rico came up with DaWinners. He saw the opportunities that it could afford him, the lifestyle it could bring, and how it could lead to merchandise sales. Fast forward a few years, and now Rico, and his DaWinners brand have garnished a cosign from New Orleans rap icon, Curren$y when he dawned their merch on his Drive In Theatre Tour. Also, Rico, has earned the respect of Grammy Award winning producer, Chase N. Cashe, who has become a mentor of sorts for the young artist, and has provided his most credible cosign.
‘Cruise Control’ will be Rico’s first major drop, other releases include: “On The Road to A3C” & “Cooking With Gas” w/ Hendrix Hussein on Soundcloud. Rico’s influence as an artist comes from, Southern/West Coast rap, DPG, Curren$y, Sir Michael Rocks, Max B, Wiz Khalifa, and when you listen to him on ‘Cruise Control’ you can see how he channels all of these styles, and combine them with the vibe that he’s created with DaWinners.
Rico says, that his overall goal with DaWinners is, “to promote a lifestyle of winning. Whether it’s winning in the music game, or anything you’re giving 100% in or have a passion for. Invest in the things that make you happy and you will always be a winner, and reciprocate what you put out. The brand is for business/motivational/
merchandise/music/visual purposes.” With 755 followers on twitter, 930 followers on Instagram, 25 YouTube subscribers, 23,000 overall views, a performance at a3c in Atlanta, and a performance at Chase N. Cashe’s Under The Bridge Festival, Rico and DaWinners are trending upwards, and the evidence is clear.
Meet Wayne Tyson, who simply goes by the artist name, Tyson. Born and raised in New Orleans’ 9th Ward, Tyson’s passion for music grew inside of him as a kid. Tyson started off writing humorous raps, something just to sharpen his skills, then eight years ago, in 2010, Tyson began to take rap seriously, and its been full steam ahead since.
The first video that Tyson was ever apart of with DaWinners collective was a video called, “fly Shit”, and that was the video that introduced the brand, and the lifestyle to the world. That video made Tyson, and DaWinners, realize that people were actually paying attention to them.
Tyson says that he compares himself to no one in the industry, he feels like he brings a unique style to the game, and when you turn on ‘Cruise Control’, you quickly realize that he’s 100% correct in his assessment of himself.
With 1300 followers on twitter, and 2068 followers on Instagram, Tyson is truly on the rise, with an a3c performance under his belt, and another performance at Under The Bridge Festival in New Orleans curated by Grammy award winning producer, Chase N. Cashe.
